    COVID-19 Leisure Access Program

  • Access to Recreation Facilities

    This program provides families and individuals in our community who have been affected financially by COVID-19 with an opportunity to participate in RDCK recreation services.


    What type of services are covered with the program?

    The program provides a 50% discount on admission fees for the Fitness Centre, Arena and Aquatic Centre once open. Each of the areas will open only when the RDCK can safely ensure the safety of our staff and patrons. Please visit www.rdck.ca/recreation for information on what is open, what we are doing and what you need to do to keep safe.


    Who is eligible?

    Residents of the Regional District of Central Kootenay may apply. The program is designed for individuals and families who have been financially affected by COVID-19 and/or are on, or have been on, the Canada Emergency Response Benefit, Employment Insurance or Social Assistance. Each individual or family can evaluate their personal situation against the following income guidelines recognized by Statistics Canada. These levels are determined, in part, by family size. Each individual and family will fill out the request and submit the application. The application can take up to two weeks to process.

    Who is not elegible for the Leisure Access program?

    Temporary residents, visitors, post secondary students who are not permanent residents of the Regional District of Central Kootenay.

    How do I access the centre once my application is approved?

    Each person will have a COVID-19 Leisure Access Pass added to their account. There is no need for a card. Anyone with an active COVID-19 Leisure Access Pass will automatically receive a 50% discount on eligible admissions/reservations fees at the time of purchase on-line or by the phone.

    How long does the program last?
    COVID-19 Leisure Access Pass is valid 6 months from the date of approval or June 30, 2021, whichever comes first.

    To continue in the program, participants must reapply. Reapply at least three weeks before your expiry date to prevent any potential interruption in service.

    If your COVID-19 Leisure Access Pass has expired, you will be required to pay full admission/reservation fees.

    Barrier-Free facility access for Care Providers

    Individuals requiring assistance with special needs may be accompanied by an assistant, at no cost, to ensure access to the centre and programs have no barriers.


    The person providing assistance will:

    • check in while the person who is receiving assistance is paying general admission.

  • Application Steps:

    1. Completed applications are submitted to either the Castlegar, Creston, Salmo, or Nelson facility for approval.
    2. Please ensure you fill out all parts of the application. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
    3. Once the application is submitted, approval may take up to 2 weeks.

    Personal information you provide in this form is collected pursuant to section 26 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. This information will be used for the purpose of the COVID-19 Leisure Access Program.
